Depending on the needs of a production, backstage work can involve designing costumes, hair, makeup, decor, props, lights, sounds, projections, and marketing material as well as implementing these.

Backstage workshop 2023 by English Theater Apeldoorn not only gets you familiar with some design basics but also is the first step to join the team. A single 5 EUR ticket gives you access to both days. You can also combine this with a ticket for our acting workshop with a discount.

What to expect

• Day 1 – Working with a script: We will discuss how to deconstruct a script, identify key themes and emotions which will have impact on designs. We will have this day together with the participants of the acting workshop.
• Day 2 – Resources and design drafts: We will go over some tips and tricks for getting the designs together and how best to communicate them to others in the team.

On both days, the participants will also get a chance to get creative and try out their ideas.

Good to know

The workshop takes place at GIGANT Apeldoorn on 3 and 10 October 2023, between 19:30 and 21:30. A single 5 EUR ticket gives you access to both days. It is important to be present on both days, especially if you want to become a member after.
